FAQs

What do I bring to a gathering?

Paper, a sketchbook, whatever you're doodling on these days, and if you're starting completely fresh, visit your local art shop and get yourself a small sketchbook. There are watercolor paper options. When it's hot, please bring water. We will be indoors on inclement days, and are a rain or shine gathering. We only cancel for smoke and poor air quality conditions. We frequent tasting rooms and outdoor spaces. Bring food or something to snack on.

I want to get into watercolor. What paints should I use?

If you want to paint, Morgan will give you pointers and resources. Please ask questions! Morgan uses (and teaches with) Daniel Smith watercolors. A travel kit would be best for Sketcher outings. Windsor Newton has excellent kits. Otherwise, visit your local art shop and tell them what you're up to. Morgan has some pre-made pallets for sale in her shoppe if you want to try Daniel Smith’s.

I’m a total art newbie. Will there be some beginning education while going to a gathering?

Yes! A lot of us are beginners. Morgan teaches tips and tricks at these gatherings, but if you want a more detailed guide, please consider hiring her for private art lessons.

Can I use pens?

Of course, use any medium you want. We recommend pencils, kneaded erasers and waterproof pens as base supplies. You can also bring a ruler.

Have more art supply questions?

Send us an email and Morgan will get in touch!

What’s the most important thing we’ll be doing?

Have fun! The point of these gatherings is to take time to be in the moment, to be playful, and to connect with others. Be prepared to make messy art!
